In this position paper, we argue that a significant reorientation of what constitutes good Software Engineering research would improve Software Engineering not just as a discipline, but would also have positive effects on the community as a whole. We briefly describe the current (perceived problems) and derive a revised vision of SE research. Based on this we discuss expected community improvements.
